FactCheck Live — Privacy Policy

FactCheck Live ("the Extension") provides real-time fact-checking of YouTube and X videos. This policy explains what data the Extension processes and why.

What we process

• Video audio and captions. When you start a fact-check session, the Extension sends the URL of the video you are watching to our backend. The backend retrieves the video's captions or audio in order to detect and verify factual claims.
• Session data. A temporary session identifier and the detected claims/verdicts, used only to display results in the sidebar during your session.

What we do NOT collect

• No names, emails, passwords, or account credentials.
• No browsing history outside the video page you explicitly fact-check.
• No advertising identifiers. We do not sell or share data with advertisers.

How data is used

Audio/captions are processed solely to generate fact-check results and are not used for any other purpose. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. Processing may involve third-party AI providers (e.g. speech-to-text and language models) strictly to produce the fact-check output.

Data retention

Session data is transient and is discarded after the session ends. We do not build long-term profiles of users.

Permissions

The Extension requests access to youtube.com, x.com, and twitter.com to read the active video, and to our backend domain to run the fact-check. storage keeps your session state locally in the browser.
